>The GTX 1080 is expected to have performance that is similar to the GTX 980Ti or Titan X, but come in with a lower TDP and thermals.
>On the other hand, the GP104 based series, allegedly called the GeForce GTX 1080, and its scaled down version GTX 1070 will be unveiled in June this year, just before or after COMPUTEX.
>The 1080 Ti is set to be released in June 2017. It will be the downgrade version of the newest pascal based titan set to be revealed in April 2016
>April 2016 - GTC: Tesla (GP100)
>June 2016 - Computex: GTX 1080 (GP104) & GTX 1070 (GP104)
>4Q 2016 - GP106 & GP107
>4Q 2016 or 1Q 2017 - Titan (GP100)
>1Q / 2Q 2017 - GP108 (GM108 rebrand?)
>It begins in April, with the Tesla board, based on GPU GP100, and dedicated to the HPC market. Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory have already announced that they will make extensive use. The first dedicated to the consumer market cards, will be those with GPU GP104, always produced with FF16 node ++ TSMC. They should be submitted to COMPUTEX in Taipei, but the market should start only from 3Q 2016.
>Now that HBM2 is beginning to flow into the market, thanks to Samsung making 4GB HBM2-based DRAM, NVIDIA is getting confident with Pascal - with the latest rumor stating that the company will unveil its next-gen GPUs in the first half of this year, with availability to follow in 2H 2016
>It also proves the ‘reports’ of Pascal taping out in June were unquestionably wrong, if it taped out in June there is no way silicon would be getting back to Nvidia in early January, best case. ~7 months is enough for a full production wafer to go through TSMC, a month of debug, and another full production run after that. If you hot lot the silicon as they most assuredly did, there would be room for 3-4 full cycles, more than any GPU in recent memory bar Fermi needed. They would have shown it off months before AMD showed running Polaris’ in early December.
Нвидиа и амуда сделали ставку на энерго-эффективность. Особого прироста в производительности можно не ждать.
